Embracing an Attitude of Gratitude

Embracing an Attitude of Gratitude

Thanksgiving is a great time to focus on what we are grateful for and to reminisce about the richness of our life experiences. Maintaining mindfulness on Thanksgiving by focusing on what we are grateful for and the connections we have with friends and family helps us to create a meaningful holiday season that we can look forward to and remember fondly for years to come.

Did you know that gratitude is associated with a greater sense of happiness and overall well-being? Why not take this time to enjoy a festive meal with friends and family and communicate our appreciation for all the good things our lives? At Garden Plaza of Valley View we offer holiday inspired meals to our residents and guests. There is no shortage of community members to share your Thanksgiving dinner with during this celebratory time of year!

There are many ways to set your focus on gratitude. One tried and true practice is to keep a gratitude journal where you write out what you are thankful for on a regular basis. Another way to focus on gratitude is to go around the Thanksgiving table and share one thing you are grateful for. This can also spark some lovely conversations and help create connections. Or if you prefer; you can take a moment to meditate and set your intentions on gratitude to get yourself into a healthy mindset during these busy times.

Inhabiting a space of gratitude helps reduce stress, depression, and loneliness all of which can be amplified during the holidays. Remembering the good times and focusing on what we have is a sure way to keep spirits high during the holidays. We are so grateful for our community members and wish you all a bountiful and joyous Thanksgiving holiday!
