Occupational Therapy at Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation
Occupational Therapy Services and Amenities
The goal of the entire Rehabilitation Department of Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation is for every patient to be able to participate in the activities they want and need to do. Occupational Therapy may assist people recovering from injuries to regain skills or provide adaptive techniques for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Rehabilitation is accomplished through the therapeutic use of everyday activities.
A typical patient that undergoes occupational therapy with Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation will go through three phases. The first phase is an evaluation where the occupational therapist will determine each individual’s needs and the goals of the treatment program. In the second phase, the patient will receive a customized intervention in order to improve the person’s ability to perform the activities of daily life. The third phase is an outcomes evaluation to either ensure that the goals are actively being met, or to re-evaluate and make changes to the treatment plan. Because our occupational therapists use a holistic approach, we may evaluate the patient’s home and environments in order to make better recommendations for adaptive techniques. If needed, we also provide training to family members and caregivers.
